Livingston County Republican Party – Official Call to the February 7, 2019 Livingston County Republican Convention.
The next Livingston County Republican Party Convention shall take place on Thursday, February 7, 2019, at 7:00 PM local time. It will be held at Crystal Gardens, 5768 E. Grand River Ave, Howell, MI 48843. Check-in time starts at 6:00 PM. The convention will start at 7:00 PM sharp.
The purpose of this County Convention shall be to elect 60 Delegates and 60 Alternates to the February 22-23, 2019 State Convention to be held at the Lansing Center in the City of Lansing. The purposes of State Convention is to receive reports of the election in the 14 Congressional District Caucuses of 14 Congressional District Chairs and the other officers, 98 members of the Michigan Republican State Committee, 14 Convention Vice Chairs, and 14 Assistant Secretaries, and the election of State Chair, Co-Chair, Coalitions Vice-Chair, Outreach Vice-Chair, Grassroots Vice-Chair, Ethnic Vice-Chair, Administrative Vice-Chair, Youth-Vice Chair, and transacting other such business as may properly come before the State Convention.
A convention Committee has been appointed to recommend the process of electing the 60 delegates and 60 Alternates to the State Convention. The recommended process is a secret ballot, with the deadline being FEBRUARY 5TH at 8:00 PM for those wishing to have their names appear on the ballot. If you have them, please bring your smart-phones and tablets as our voting will be done electronically; however, you must be physically present in the convention room in order to vote. The Delegates shall be voted on separately from the Alternates with the Delegates being elected prior to the Alternates. Any County registered voter who wishes to attend the February 22-23, 2019 State Convention as a Delegate/Alternate must notify Meghan Reckling either by email at Meghan.Reckling@gmail.com or by phone/voicemail at (517) 672-6823 or Daniel Schifko either by email at DanielSchifko@comcast.net or by phone/voicemail at (248) 866-1366 of their desire to be in the State Delegation on or before FEBRUARY 5TH at 8:00 PM.
Precinct delegates and certain at-large delegates given the preference under Rule 8 of the Convention Rules, but who do not attend the county convention, must notify Meghan Reckling or Daniel Schifko of the person’s intention to become a delegate or alternate delegate to the State Convention. The notification can be in any written form, including by letter or email, and must be received by Meghan Reckling or Daniel Schifko no later than the start of the County Convention. Failure to provide notification shall mean that person shall not be given the preference under Rule 8 of the Convention Rules. It isn’t necessary to send a notification if a person attends the County Convention to be given preference. In order to be on the BALLOT, however, you must contact Meghan Reckling or Daniel Schifko by FEBRUARY 5TH at 8:00 PM.
All Republicans are encouraged to attend. Only Precinct Delegates elected at the August 7, 2018 Primary Election, the most recent Republican nominees for County and State Legislative offices, the Michigan Congressional Delegation, the Republican National Committeeman and National Committeewoman from Michigan and Michigan Republican Party Officers (see Rule 5B) where such person resides in the county in question and Precinct Delegates elected to permanently fill vacancies at all subsequent County Conventions will be seated and considered eligible to vote at this convention.
